Meet Marek Čmelík, production manager at Rompa CZ

30 January 2018

Marek Čmelík, Rompa CZ’s new production manager, has been with the company for a few months now, so it is high time for an introduction. What drives Marek in his work? How would he describe his own management style? Where does he like to spend his free time?

Marek is responsible for the production, the process and the two hundred people who operate under his supervision. “I make sure the production process goes well. To that end, it is important that my colleagues collaborate optimally. I spend a lot of my time talking to the people on the floor. If there is a problem with the process, the production or the collaboration, it is my job to resolve the issue as soon as possible. I love that aspect of my work just as much as the development of new products and the implementation of processes. My goal is to improve our production and optimise our efficiency.”

How would you describe yourself as a manager?
“I am result-oriented and extremely demanding. I expect my colleagues to carry full responsibility for their work until the job is done. That is the only way we can offer our customers the high quality of service they expect from us. Luckily, everyone here is very cooperative, which came as a pleasant surprise to me.

What else stands out to you about Rompa?
“The processes here are very well organised. We do a lot of wonderful work for the automotive industry. I am especially fond of that sector, because I have fifteen years of experience as a process engineer and production manager at IAC, an international supplier of automotive components.”

Where can we find you when you are not at work?
“Chances are that I will be in my garden with my wife, our five children and a glass of red wine. I am passionate about gardening and I make my own wine. On top of that, I regularly go hiking in the mountains of Slovakia with some friends and I play the saxophone and the guitar. I also enjoy learning new languages: I speak Russian, German and English. Since I acquired most of my knowledge on my own, I sometimes refer to myself as a self-made man.”
