New and larger workspace for employees of Rompa CZ

4 December 2018

It is time to celebrate for Rompa CZ. After a six-month remodelling project, its employees can finally admire their new workspace. Quite a lot has changed about it. The ground and first floors of the office building have been extended by 18 metres. We used that opportunity to fully renovate the existing spaces as well. We sat down with Malcolm Ford, director of Rompa Europe, to discuss the changes.

The floor area of the office building has been increased by 30%. “We chose to use the space on the ground floor for social facilities,” Malcolm explains. “It now contains the lockers and showers for employees, for example, so they can walk out feeling refreshed after a day at work.” Malcolm is convinced that the improved space will contribute to the employees’ job satisfaction. “The initial reactions are great! We want people to feel at home here. In the past, the lockers were located in the hall of the injection moulding facility. That was quite noisy and less than ideal. Now, employees can come in and get ready for work in a much more relaxed manner. Similarly, they can get changed in peace after their work is done for the day.”

Stimulating teamwork

The first floor has also undergone a serious metamorphosis. Malcolm: “We turned the first floor into a large open workspace for 28 quality engineers, project engineers and process engineers. This was done to further stimulate teamwork. In the end, our customers will benefit from that as well. It is now easier for our engineers to collaborate, for example when a new product is being introduced. They are more aware of what everyone else is doing and can resolve any issues together. This makes it even easier for us to exceed our customers’ expectations.”

Satisfying customers’ every wish – now and in the future

Rompa CZ is constantly developing. The expansion of the office building and the machine pool, the relocation of the assembly line to Slovakia and the construction of our new production site in Germany; all these developments contribute to its ongoing growth. “Our goal is to grow by 10% every year in a controlled manner,” Malcolm explains. “It is important to us to satisfy our customers’ needs and wishes – today and in the future.”

An upgraded ERP system

The ongoing growth and the addition of new production sites also mean that the systems being used must constantly be improved. This ties into the developments we see pertaining to “Industry 4.0.” Production sites, machinery and systems are all connected to realise an improved information provision and more efficiency. That is why Rompa CZ’s ERP system will soon be upgraded. Malcolm says the new version offers limitless possibilities. “When it comes to the workload planning of the injection moulding machines, for example. The new system combines data and indicates what the best machine is for a specific project and when it is available. This used to be a partially manual task, so the new system will mark a significant improvement!”
